CIRCUIT BOARD CAPACITOR AND DIODE

A critical component in restaurant equipment, a capacitor helps power an electric motor, such as those used to drive a compressor in a refrigeration unit. The capacitor stores electrical energy and then releases it as needed to help the compressor motor start and run smoothly. Capacitors are commonly used in all kinds of commercial kitchen appliances, such as fryers, ovens, dishwashers, ice machines, and more.

A printed circuit board (PCB) mechanically supports and electrically connects electronic components or electrical components using conductive tracks, pads and other features etched from one or more sheet layers of copper laminated onto and/or between sheet layers of a non-conductive substrate. Components are generally soldered onto the PCB to both electrically connect and mechanically fasten them to it.

A circuit is a closed path that allows electricity to flow from one point to another. It may include various electrical components, such as transistors, resistors, and capacitors, and the flow is unimpeded unless that path is interrupted by a breaker.

A diode is a two-terminal electronic component that conducts current primarily in one direction (asymmetric conductance); it has low (ideally zero) resistance in one direction, and high (ideally infinite) resistance in the other. A semiconductor diode, the most commonly used type today, is a crystalline piece of semiconductor material with a junction connected to two electrical terminals. Semiconductor diodes were the first semiconductor electronic devices.
