In restaurant equipment such as a refrigerator or freezer, a diffuser is typically used to distribute cold air evenly throughout the appliance. The diffuser helps to ensure that temperatures remain consistent and help to keep food fresh and prevent spoilage. An alternate type of diffuser may be located near the compressor or fan where it assists in exhausting heat, and may take the form of a grille, panel slats, or a series of openings through which vented air can pass.
