The riser may be structurally fixed as is piping and ducting, framing, or footings (adjustable or standard legs), or it may be actuated by a motor and moved into an elevated position.

Spacers are widely used in the construction of restaurant equipment of all types. A spacer is a solid material used to separate two parts in an assembly. Spacers can vary in size from microns to centimeters. They can be made of metal, plastic, glass and other materials. Spacer shapes include square or rectangular, circular, cylindrical and spherical.

A tank, receptacle, bowl, or chamber is a reservoir. They may be used to store liquid or solid ingredients or may serve as a waste container. In restaurant equipment, examples of reservoirs may be seen in ice machines, beverage equipment, coffee machines, condiment dispensers, dish washing equipment, waste handling equipment, and many more.
