A belt is a loop of flexible material used to link two or more rotating shafts mechanically, most often aligned in parallel. Belts are used in the conveyance of energy to transfer power from one component to another.
A rod is thin straight bar, especially of plastic or metal. Rods are used with foodservice equipment for numerous purposes including mounting, positioning, fastening, and more.
A shim is a washer or thin strip of material used to align parts, make them fit, or reduce wear. Shims may also be used as spacers to fill gaps between parts subject to wear. On machinery installations (pumps, motors, etc.) the recommended practice requires new shims to be placed under every supporting foot. This guarantees flexibility for adjustments, like a slight raising or lowering of a motor, when parts of the machinery need to be replaced and aligned properly.
A take-up or "takeup" is a device which gathers or recoils and tightens, as in a cord, wire, or cable into a collection area or onto a spool. Takeups are spring loaded or motor powered.
