Chutes are common in foodservice equipment. A chute is a vertical or inclined plane, channel, duct or passage through which ingredients move by gravity. Coffee urns may use a lever to dispense coffee or hot water for tea. Most soda fountains use levers to dispense soda or other carbonated beverages. The lever is typically located on the front of the fountain and is pressed down to release the beverage into the cup.
