THERMOCOUPLE TYPE K 113 W/PAPW WYOTT 1480035
A therm is a unit of heat. Gas and electric cooking equipment may be rated in therms as to energy efficiency. In other foodservice equipment the abbreviation "therm" may be used interchangeably for "thermostat", "thermocouple", "thermopile", and "thermistor" when describing certain temperature measurement and control components despite the fact that these components may have different operating principles.A thermocouple is a transducer consisting of two different metals welded together at each end; a voltage is produced that is proportional to the difference in temperature between the two junctions (one of which is normally held at a known temperature). Commercial thermocouples are inexpensive, interchangeable, are supplied with standard connectors, and can measure a wide range of temperatures. In contrast to most other methods of temperature measurement, thermocouples are self powered and require no external form of excitation.
